OVERVIEW

Bardia National Park is one of the biggest wildlife reserves in Nepal.  Covering an area of 968 square km, the national park lies in the low land of Terai, close to the southern border of Nepal. The national park consists of dense forests, lush grasslands and woodlands. With its biodiverse vegetation it is a haven for a variety of animal species. Bardia is not as explored as the popular Chitwan National Park however this wildlife sanctuary is just as rich and important. This area is undisturbed in its natural state. The largest population of Bengal tigers exist in this sanctuary, further it shelters 350 species of birds. Rhinoceros’, the Gharial crocodile, wild elephants, gangetic dolphins, the Sarus crane and many more endangered species reside in this sanctuary. Animals previously labeled as “extinct” have been spotted in this pristine protected area. Comb through the jungle to spot one of them.

ITINERARY

Once you arrive to Kathmandu we will collect you from the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Kathmandu is a beautiful city with streets lined with vibrant stores. You will have the rest of the day at your leisure where you can explore this beautiful city. Overnight at a hotel in the capital. 

Today you will hop on a domestic flight to Nepalgunj, the first step of your journey to Bardia National Park. Nepalgunj is one of the hottest places in Nepal and you will sense that the moment you land. On arrival you will be collected from the airport and transfered to the hotel. In the afternoon you will start your trip to the Tharu village to learn of their unique culture and way of life as you walk amongst the locals in their village. You will drive back to the hotel for dinner. Overnight at hotel here. 

You will start off early today after breakfast and head to the national park. You will start your exploration with a ride through the jungle on an elephant’s back. Catch glimpses of the one-horned rhino, spotted deer, Hog deer, Swamp deer, Wild boars, the Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopards, striped hyenas and many other beautiful wild creatures. You will then head to the crocodile breeding center and a museum exhibiting Tharu culture. After lunch, you can walk through the forest, where you can enjoy the beautiful songs of the birds. This will then be followed by Tharu cultural dance prepared by the locals. Overnight at hotel. 

Today you will head to the Karnali river, where you might see dolphins. Standing on the banks of the river with the sun hitting the river beautifully, it is truly a sight to see. After lunch you will head towards the Nepalgunj airport and take a flight back to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu. 

Today we will take you for sightseeing in Kathmandu. You will visit some incredible UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as the Boudhanath stupa, Pashupatinath and Swqyambhunath stupa. The Boudhanath is a massive Buddhist Tibetan stupa situated at the heart of Kathmandu. You will find monks, and laymen circumambulating this temple. This practice is known as “Kora”. The Pashupatinath temple is an aesthetically marvelous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It hosts Hindu crematorium rituals on the banks of the river. The Swayambhunath Stupa is another Buddhist stupa commonly known as the monkey temple because of an abundance of monkeys found there. In the afternoon you can explore the Durbar Squares of Patan and Bhaktapur on foot, on cycles or a trishaw. These squares represent the epitome of art, architecture and culture in Nepal. You will see in Durbar square, intricately carved buildings and monuments and ancient royal palaces showcasing the Newari architecture. Enjoy this beautiful and enchanting city which is chaotic but also harmonious. There are excellent bookshops, markets and handicraft shops to do some last minute souvenir shopping. Overnight at a hotel.
