This trek is just right for those in search of an off the beaten path experience. Less frequented by trekkers, the Manaslu Trek will allow you to tread in the wilderness with little to no disturbance. It boasts of the magnificent scenery of the Manaslu region and breathtaking views of the Cheo Himal, Himlung Himal, Annapurna II, and Kang Guru. Cross the Larkya La pass at 5167 m which is the peak point in the trek. This remote trek will take you around the eighth highest mountain in the world which towers at 8,163 m. The trail passes through Lho village populated by Tibetan immigrants offering an opportunity to experience their culture and religion.

Today we will take you for sightseeing in Kathmandu. You will visit some incredible UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as the Boudhanath stupa, Pashupatinath and Swqyambhunath stupa. The Boudhanath is a massive Buddhist Tibetan stupa situated at the heart of Kathmandu. You will find monks, and laymen circumambulating this temple. This practice is known as “Kora”. The Pashupatinath temple is an aesthetically marvelous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It hosts Hindu crematorium rituals on the banks of the river. The Swayambhunath Stupa is another Buddhist stupa commonly known as the monkey temple because of an abundance of monkeys found there. In the afternoon you can explore the Durbar Squares of Patan and Bhaktapur on foot, on cycles or a trishaw. These squares represent the epitome of art, architecture, and culture in Nepal. You will see in Durbar square, intricately carved buildings and monuments and ancient royal palaces showcasing the Newari architecture. Today you will be following a surging trail upstream along the Budhi Gandaki river. You will pass through several settlements where you will have the opportunity to experience the Gurung culture in Lapubesi and Khanibesi villages. You will then descend to the sandy riverbed and onward on a mountain path looking over the blue river. Overnight at a guesthouse in Machha Khola.
22.2 km 5-6 hours, 440 m ascent, Camp alt. 1340 m
Today you will be walking through pristine Himalayan foothills and rugged terrains. As you follow the trail towards Jagat you will come across Gurung settlements in Khola Besi and Tatopani. Through forested areas and Dovan Khola you will make your way into the Budhi Gandaki Vallet. With a gain in altitude, you will notice the drastic change in landscapes. Overnight at a local teahouse in Jagat.
20 km 8-9 hours, 755 m ascent, Camp alt. 2095 m
The trial continues through the paved Jagat village and oak, pine and birch forests. You then drop down to the Budhi Gandaki river to cross a long suspension bridge and then climb upwards to Philim. Villages in this region such as Philim, Salieri, Ekla Bhatti, Sirdibas, Nyak, and Paimo are prominently influenced but Buddhism. The trail goes through the valley and finally reaches the village of Deng, another spot to enjoy spectacular vires of the Himalayas. Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Deng.

Today after a short walk you will arrive at the farm village Namrung. You will find that Tibetan culture is very prominent here, as seen from the Mani (prayer wheels) carved into the rocks on the way to Ghap village. The culture and lifestyle, as well as the landscapes of this land, are very similar to that of Tibetan Buddhists. As the walk continues, the valley gives way spectacular view of Kutang Himal, Pang Phuchin, Saula Himal and more. Overnight at a guesthouse in Namrung.
10.5 km 5-6 hours, 280 m ascent, Camp alt. 3180 m
Today you will trek to Lohegaon. There is a large Gompa here which is home to more than 150 children where they receive their education from. Getting to the top of this hill will reveal an amazing view of Mt. Manaslu and its fishtail twin mountains. You can also catch the sunrise atop Mt. Manaslu from the Gompa gate, that is sure to take your breath away. Overnight at guesthouse in Lohegaon.
8.1 km 6-7 hours, 350 m ascent, Camp alt. 3530 m
Samagaon, where you will stay tonight, is one of the largest villages in the Manaslu region. Mt. Manaslu can be seen from Samagaon at 3530 m above sea level. The locals here are farmers and trade with Tibet. This route is an original old salt trade route from Nepal to Tibet. Here you will see mani walls, prayer wheels, and monasteries. Overnight at a tea house in this beautiful village.
For you to get acclimatized to the altitude you will hike up to the Birendra Tal (lake), a monastery located here and explore Sama gompa village. Overnight stay in Samagaon.
8.1 km 3-4 hours, 160 m ascent, Camp alt. 3690 m
Today you will hike to Samdo, a Tibetan refugee village. The route to Samdo isn’t long but with gain in altitude, the task at hand might seem more difficult. Hence it’s recommended you take it slow and enjoy the surrounding views before getting to the village. This is a very remote village with only 200 villagers. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Samdo.
6.6 km 4-5 hours, 780m ascent 20 m descent, Camp alt. 4450 m
Larkya Phedi is situated at a whopping 4470 m above sea level. It is also known as Dharamshala or the Larkya base camp. After crossing a few streams and ascending a ridge you will arrive at Larkya Bazaar. The village thrived because of the trade with Tibet. You can explore Larkya bazaar which is a seasonal Tibetan market. We will then climb steadily to the lodge in Dharamshala. Overnight at guesthouse.
24.5 km 8-9 hours, 770 m ascent 1630 m descent, Camp alt. 3590 m
Today you will leave the village and hike towards Larkya La pass at 5220 m crossing Bhimphedi. You will then climb uphill from Cho Chanda towards the snow-capped pass. The top of the pass is the best vantage point for magnificent views of the Himalayas, like the Annapurna II (7937 m), Himlung (7126 m), Cheo Himal (6820 m) and Kang Guru (6981 m). You will also get to see Mt. Manaslu in its totality from this point. After a steep descent and passing through moraines to Bhimphedi. Overnight at guesthouse.
26 km 8-9 hours, 1290 m descent, Camp alt. 2900 m
The trip from Bhimphedi to Tilche is the last leg of this trek. The trail descends through fig and rhododendron forests to Tilche. Stating off from the alpine area you will end at Subtropical forest. Mani walls, Gompas, and alpine forests are a common sight you will see on your descent. After passing Marshyangdi valley you will pass through Kharka, a rural valley. As you continue on you will come across settlements of Goh and Thonje and finally Tiliche. Overnight stay at the guesthouse.
19.4 km 6-7 hours, 890 m descent, Camp alt. 2300 m
You will climb over a ridge today and pass through a charming village. After crossing the Dudh Khola river you will climb through an arch-shaped like a Chorten, follow a Mani wall and finally arrive at Thonje village. As you continue onwards from Thonje you will enter the Annapurna region at Dharapani where you are obligated to go through a police checkpoint. Another village, Karta, will cross your path. After you cross the Marshyangdi Khola river you will reach Tal village located at the foot of a waterfall. Make another descent to Chamje village where you will spend the night.
