Kathmandu and pokhara valley and poonhill trek
Explore two of the most vibrant cities in Nepal – Kathmandu and Pokhara. Visit world heritage sites in Kathmandu and boat on the serene Phewa lake in Pokhara. On the Poonhill trek, you will reach a peak elevation of 3,210 m. Enjoy the time spent hiking through the Annapurna ranges. Charming villages of Ulleri, Ghorepani and Ghandruk occupied by the Mongar and Gurung ethnic groups are dotted along the trail and is the perfect opportunity to mingle with them and learn their culture and way of life. The sunrise view of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m) and Annapurna I (8,091 m) from the Poonhill viewpoint is truly stunning. Trek through dense rhododendron forests, beautiful valleys, waterfalls and rice terraces surrounding the small villages of Birethati, Hile and Tadapani for an unforgettable experience in the wilderness of Nepal.
Kathmandu is a city of beautiful chaos. Packed markets line the bustling streets and is spotted with vibrant temples and pagodas. After being transferred to your hotel, you will have the whole day to explore this charming city. You will be briefed about the trek that you will commence on leaving you spare time to do some necessary shopping in the city. Overnight at hotel.
Today we will take you sightseeing in Kathmandu. You will visit some incredible sites which are listed in the UNESCO World Heritage list such as the Boudhanath stupa, Pashupatinath and Swqyambhunath. After noon you can explore the Durbar Square, Patan and Bhaktapur on foot, on cycles or a trishaw. Enjoy this beautiful and enchanting city which is chaotic but also exuberant harmony. There are excellent bookshops, markets and handicraft shops to do some last minute souvenir shopping. Overnight at a hotel.
You will take a tourist bus to Pokhara. Enjoy an amazing ride with exciting scenery all along. Rivers and valleys rocky gorges and pattered rice terraces are some scenes you will come upon. When you arrive Pokhara you will check in to a hotel and then take a stroll around. You may also opt for boating on Fewa Lake and view the reflections of some peaks surrounding Pokhara on the clear lake. Overnight hotel in Pokhara.
You will drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, the start of the trail. Walk along the river banks of Modi Khola which will bring you to a large village called Birethanti brimming with shops and teahouses. You will walk through the village and follow the banks of the Bhurungdi Khola. You will gradually climb up the valley to Hille (1495 m) to get to Tikhedhunga at 1570 m. Overnight at guesthouse in Tikhedhunga.
Today you will be ascending a steep stone staircase to Magar village, one of many large villages of Ulleri (2080 m). The trail continues via cultivated land and pastures and after an hours walk from Ulleri you will stop for water break to catch your breath and then continue on. After passing two streams you will climb to Nangethanti. ‘Thanti’ means rest house in Nepali and you will make a stop here for lunch. From this rest house you will start climbing up to Ghorepani at 2850 m. Ghorepani is a spectacular viewpoint offering spectacular views of Dhaulagiri (8167m), Nilgiri (6940 m), Annapurna I (8091 m), Hiunchuli (6441 m) and more. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Today you will hike up to Poon Hill (3210 m). The view at sunrise of the stunning Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Fishtail and others from this point will take your breath away. You will walk back down to Ghorepani for breakfast, and then continue your walk to Tadapani. Overnight at guesthouse here.
Today you will head on down to Ghandruk village inhabited by an ethnic group of Nepal called the Gurungs. After you hit Ghandruk the walk gets easier down to Kimche. From Kimche you will drive to Pokhara. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara.
You will drive back to Sarangkot his station today early in the morning to watch the beautiful sunrise over the Himalayas. After this you will visit the Bindhyabasini Temple to receive blessings on a safe journey and healthy life. You can then return to the hotel for breakfast. After this you will start your trip to Tal Barahi Temple, Devi’s falls, Gupteshwar cave and the Mountain Museum. A full day out an about in Pokhara. Overnight stay at hotel in Pokhara.
Enjoy a picturesque ride back to Kathmandu. The rest of the day is at your leisure, you can explore the city one last time on this trip.
